Alex Ehlers, MFTC

Alex (she/her) works with individuals and couples, supporting clients through a wide range of concerns including relationship challenges, life transitions, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and the journey of finding one’s identity, voice, and purpose.

Alex specializes in working with couples at every stage of their relationship-whether dating or engaged and seeking a strong foundation, new parents navigating the shift to family life, or long-term partners looking to rekindle connection, deepen intimacy, or better understand recurring patterns of conflict. She brings a humorous, relatable, and compassionate presence to her work, creating a warm and welcoming space where clients feel both heard and advocated for.

Alex is an attachment-based and systemic therapist who views clients within the broader context of their relationships, identities, and lived experiences, helping them explore how early relational dynamics shape current patterns and emotions. Using an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approach, she supports clients in uncovering and expressing the deeper emotions underneath conflict and disconnection, while fostering greater self-understanding and compassion. Alex has completed Level 1 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy and is currently working toward certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Alex holds a Master of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy from the University of Colorado Denver. She is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist committed to creating an inclusive, culturally sensitive, and nonjudgmental space for clients of all races, gender expressions, sexual identities, and relationship structures.

Before becoming a therapist, Alex studied child development and worked extensively in childcare. These experiences sparked her interest in supporting family systems by beginning with the couple at the center. She also contributed to research focused on shame and self-acceptance, which now deeply informs her therapeutic lens as she helps clients approach shame-based parts with greater understanding and self-compassion.

Outside of therapy, Alex enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, watercolor painting, reading, and spending time with her partner and their cat, Beau.

Alex sees clients in-person at the Denver office and via telehealth using a HIPAA-compliant video platform. She is available Monday through Friday. Session rates are $160 for 50 minutes and $240 for 75 minutes.
